Damn dog

I have NO idea what happens when I’m not here but can home to a house filled with mud, dirt caked on the dog ( and it still is ) and the yard is destroyed. The sod I spent hundreds on is destroyed. It’s like a teenager threw a party.

It’s realizing that all last night I used my new bathroom. I’m like a ninja because there are no curtains and the neighbors back door it 7 feet away. But it was awesome to have it done.

Jesse came over to do the final clearing of metal filings out of the valve and get the sink drain to tighten and not leak.

I’m trying to think about this. The morning started so well, but the day kinda fell apart. It’s hard to sort through it all to think of my little ray of sunshine. I guess it was when Adam wanted to wear his sweater and ” match”. It’s silly but our matching white pull overs are looking pretty stylish.

I’ve also been very happy with the outpouring of support when I reached out for some hope. It’s made me feel valuable.

Honestly, I’d been hungry for days and today I went and had salmon and a double portion if roasted veggies. It was so good and I was a hog.

Tonight Adam wanted me to read “I chose you” which is a book about how a parent picks their child in spirit because they are born.

Monica, my college friend, gave it to me last year, and I love it. It describes all types of kids and at the end it says ” I chose you”. Adam stops and says “No, I choose you”. It really touched me. We chose each other.

My happiest moment today:

It might be my happiest moment all week. Drum roll. The 2nd bathroom plumbing is all done!

I’ve lived here 15 months and it’s now a 3B/2B house. And it’s beautiful. I’ve never had a house with 2 baths as an adult.

You have no idea the way this idea has taken a life of its own. I paid as I went and it’s paid for and no credit card debt.

Now cosmetics with towel bars, toilet paper roll hanger, shower curtain and painting the outside of the tub navy blue.

Adam beat me to being the first to use the toilet. I said it was mine and he said “we share everything, daddy”. To get even with him I waited until the train was strategically in front of his turkey timer.

I realized today that I have 4 rays of hope and trying to soak all of that up is wonderful and scary.

And I have the cutest boy in the world. He snuggled with me last night on the sofa. He also told me I’m his favorite dad.

The entire Veteran’s day was great.

I had a very hopeful conversation this morning.

But the train trip to Little Tokyo was the best, his 1st train trip on the metro. We took the Metro Gold Line.

We stopped at Chinatown. We also got off at Union Station and saw other trains. Then next stop at Little Tokyo.

It was noon so we had lunch, walked around and then Adam asked to come home.

We made it back to the car and he was asleep within 5 mins. He was out until almost 5 PM. I wore him out . . . And me too.

Then I was still lazy feeling the holiday and it was off to the village for Zeke’s for Mac-n-cheese and some frozen yogurt.

What a day.
