It’s cut

I’m still amazed that I did it – I cut my own marble countertops! The marble did break on the first cut and I learned to push the saw and not press down and push. I had enough material to finish the countertops as I wanted.

So long makeshift wood and hello carrerra marble. An old butler’s pantry countertop is my new countertops. (did I mention $200 at architectural salvage?) It’s butterry and smooth and not as cold as one would imagine.

Using salvage materials has drawbacks like limitation of color and materials and size but that’s where creativity comes into play. I’ll bring out the wall to compensate for the gap at the back and the tile backsplash will finish it up perfectly. I wonder what I’ll be doing next weekend?!?
