My happiest moment today:

I had AAA giggling for a long time kissing every part of his body. Hair, ears, fingers, feet, nose …. He was giggling so hard he couldn’t quit wiggling. (And if he says stop, even once I stop, but he did and we kept playing.)

So then he wants the “Ticks” Game a.k.a. Tickle Monster book with mittens.

Finally he runs up to me face and smiles and throws his arms around me and squeezes me and sighs. Times like that I just love being a daddy.

My happiest moment(s) today:

1) play doh with Adam before breakfast in our PJs for half am hour
2) the amazing ceramic lamp find
3) cutting the other side of the doorway; we have pierced the other side (AAA slept 3 hours)
4) quickly shifting gears in cooking to make tuna patties for the first time and it was good

I big day and I also ran laundry through and played cars and got a milk/coffee break at the Coffee Bean. Whew.

My happiest moment today:

Let’s see . . . Oh yes. Adam says “surfer nic” for the first time. I ask for him to repeat it and then he points to the couch. He was saying “sofa picnic”! So, it was sofa picnic dinner.

Cleaning and repairing the dining room table that came from my mom’s place.

Over 25 years ago the dining room table at the house on Parker was central to our house. I remembered it as plain and a bit of a style miss and mix but it was ours.

When I bought this house the dining area needed “that” table. I knew that it was old enough to be retro, the mahogany would be priceless and my son could eat at the table I loved.

My mom, VRP, bought it in the early 80′s at Mrs. Simmons place on Pichacho ave in Las Cruces. I’m sure it was inexpensive and a 70′s piece that someone wanted to mimic the then newly popular Danish look but with a more traditional base.

It had been in a barn at the orchard for 5+ years and had dirt caked on it, some moisture had bowed the ends but not before the end caps popped off. There are gouges in the too and they look fresh and as if it was carelessly yanked from storage.

I placed a Craigslist ad to have it hauled here for $150 and actually found a taker/match a week later.

I dusted, washed, bleach whiped and the slathered on Pledge Restoring Oil. Found my wood clamps, a straight piece of wood, wood glue and the bowed area is correcting slowly.

And I love it all – the memories, the project and the prospect of the style that cannot be duplicated.

My happiest moment today:

Reuniting with a wonderful friend from my past; far back past. It was odd at first because I rarely look back but it was good for me.

No more details beyond that since its special for me. A little cyber stalking isn’t a bad thing. Thank M.O.M.
